(Alkitab bahasa Latin). Ungkapan Ibrani                            the Morning star was later Latinized as "Lucifer".
"HEYLEL BEN-SYAKHAR"; "HEYLEL"
 adalah kata Ibrani untuk "bintang Timur" alias
planet Venus, sedangkan "BEN-SYAKHAR" harfiah "anak (putra) Fajar".

• Alkitab Vulgata

"quomodo cecidisti de caelo lucifer qui mane oriebaris corruisti in terram qui vulnerabas gentes".

Kata "Lucifer" muncul dalam Alkitab Terjemahan seperti King James Version/ Douay Rheims/ Darby , mungkin diserap dari Alkitab Latin (Vulgata).

• Versi King James (KJV):

"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!"

• Douay Rheims:

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, who didst rise in the morning? how art thou fallen to the earth, that didst wound the nations?

• Darby:

How art thou fallen from heaven, Lucifer, son of the morning! Thou art cut down to the ground, that didst prostrate the nations!

Dalam terjemahan bahasa Inggris lain, misalnya "New International Version (NIV)" tidak dijumpai kata Lucifer Tidak adanya kata "Lucifer" terkait dalam "Gerakan Hanya Alkitab King James" (King James Only Movement) yang menyatakan bahwa Alkitab-alkitab modern kecuali Alkitab King James tahun 1611 merupakan hasil kopi yang telah dirusak dan tidak bisa dipercaya lagi sepenuhnya.

• New International Version:

"How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!"

Dalam terjemahan Young's Literal Translation (YLT) tidak ada kata Lucifer :

• Young's Literal Translation:

How hast thou fallen from the heavens, O shining one, son of the dawn! Thou hast been cut down to earth, O weakener of nations.

Naskah Masora Ibrani hanya menulis HEYLEL dari kata HALAL, "memuji". Dalam ayat itu tidak dijumpai kata Iblis (bahasa Ibrani: "Satan"). Kata Indonesia "setan" hanya dijumpai dalam Perjanjian Baru.
Tidak ada kata "Lucifer" dalam Perjanjian Baru bahasa Yunani maupun Alkitab Ibrani. Kata Lucifer adalah kata terjemahan, bukan kata dalam bahasa asli Alkitab. Terjemahan lain yaitu dari sumber-sumber Yahudi, misalnya Hebrew Names Version (HNV) of the World English Bible, juga tidak memakai kata "Lucifer".

• Hebrew Names Version of the World English Bible:

"How you are fallen from heaven, Heylel, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, who laid the nations low!"

• Jewish Publication society Tanakh:

How art thou fallen from heaven, O day-star, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, that didst cast lots over the nations!

• The Orthodox Jewish Bible:

"How art thou fallen from Shomayim, O Heilel Ben Shachar! How art thou cast down to the earth, thou, which hast laid low the Goyim!"

Jadi jelas, bahwa kata Lucifer adalah terjemahan dalam bahasa Latin, digunakan dalam Vulgata, Alkitab bahasa Latin.
Jika kita baca konteks Yesaya 14:1-23, ayat tentang Lucifer ini mengacu kepada raja Babel:

• Ada yang mengatakan Nebukadnezar.
• Ada pula yang mengatakan ada raja Babel yang bernama Heylel bin Syakhar.

Terjemahan Septuaginta (LXX, dalam bahasa Yunani) untuk ayat Yesaya 14:12:

• LXX:

πως εξεπεσεν εκ του ουρανου ο εωσφορος ο πρωι ανατελλων συνετριβη εις την γην ο αποστελλων προς παντα τα εθνη

Transliterasi: pôs exepesen ek tou ouranou ho heôsphoros ho proi anatellôn sunetribê eis tên gên ho apostellôn pros nanta ta ethnê

Septuaginta menerjemahkannya "ho heosphoros ho proi"; "heos" berarti "hingga; sampai", "phoros" berarti "cahaya" dan "proi" adalah "dini hari".
